Wondrously Hilarious

Interesting concept and beautiful music, but it did not come across as a parody to me. It was a plain and simple political ad in support of Obama, including the usual tired cliches and BS.

Dr S said...

BB - I tend to agree; seened like a well-done take off of the original music with a political message. Maybe they had to call it a parody to get around some legal issues....who knows.....

The fact that such a failed, irresponsible, unworthy, lying, leftist, anti-American president is in such a tight race against such a plausible and competent opponent, instead of facing the certainty of a Carter-type repudiation by the electorate, is a very sobering indicator of the state of our country. It confirms the view, held by some on the right, that America has already been transformed into a different country, a country in which blacks, Hispanic and other nonwhite immigrants, single women, and alienated white leftists—constituencies that hardly existed or were largely insignificant fifty years ago—now exercise virtual control over our politics and assure the county’s ever more leftward course. Therefore, even if the Republicans manage to pull out a victory this time, and in office slow down the country’s leftist march somewhat, and in particular stop the imminent catastrophe of Obamacare, all of which I very much hope happens, America in the long run is still lost. Our future is to be a country ruled by a coalition of nonwhite parasites and white leftist scum.

I am most hopeful that Parody has no progeny because this country will be much better off when extreme white racists die. For that matter, it will be a better place when all extreme racists die. Reality check Parody - a look at the 538 in power in this country shows that white guys still rule supreme.

Although I find PT's comments despicable, as would most in my circles of friends, I will let the comment stand. As vile as the message is, I believe that in this venue, it falls within the realm of free speech. It is not shouting 'fire' in a movie theater and would not be considered by most as technically'hate speech' even though it is filled with angry hatred. However it might qualify as the latter if directed toward specific individuals in a public forum. Here PT can hide behind the veil of anonymity, but cannot escape the scorn of folks who believe in things such as equality, justice, and compassion, just to name a few.

My comment was an unattributed direct quote from a column written by Lawrence Auster at View from the Right. He does sound a bit huffy. BTW, he may be on his way out as he reported he has/had some form of high risk cancer. Do not think he has any offspring. Also, he equally hates Muslims and thinks they should be contained in their own lands so they don't corrupt and pollute the West. I do not subscribe to many of his views, but in some areas, like our society becoming nihilistic, he hits the nail on the head.

Dr S said...

PT - guess you should ID the crazies so that we know exactly where the angry white male racism is coming from. I presume that your quote resonated with you at some level, eh? Also would not say that nihilistic is becoming prevalent but rather entitlement - not only at the often-referred to lower end of the economic scale but at every level of the scale.

Tsk, tsk, Parody. Your unattributed quote would get you an F in Comp 101.

Parody This said...

Only the first sentence of the quote resonated with me. Auster is kind of cleverly evasive. He does not come out and directly say, "I believe that..." Rather he says, "It confirms the view, held by some on the right..." I don't know if there is a name for that expository device, but I, for example, could launch into a vitriolic diatribe against the Mennonites and state, "That is not my opinion, just what some people think." It is a method of spewing venom without taking responsibility for it.

Agree with you Dr. S. on the scourge of entitlements. The government is out of money and will never be able to get our national debt down to a manageable level. Best case scenario is a general reduction in the American standard of living with peaceful adjustment. Worst case is default, currency collapse, and resultant societal chaos.

The Bible does predict a period of tribulation before the Second Coming. Voting liberal or conservative is not going to change that. When more than 40% of the population is born out of wedlock, as is the case now, it does not bode well for the future. I predict that will accelerate the country's downfall.

Some good points gents, especially with the general agreement that things will either be changed by plan and choice in the US or change will come by fiat and chaos. Either way [or some combo thereof] change will come.

Seems like there is a thin veneer between civilization and savagery. Lots of looting in the storm aftermath.

hoosierdaddy said...

BB - ain't that the truth. I never understood the mind-set of looters, vandals, thieves, etc; has always been so far from how I think that it is incomprehesible.

Hope you voted so we can cancel each othe out!

Bizzy Brain said...

Well, hoosier, you're joking right? If so, you are a real laugh a minute. Lol! You might cancel me out on the popular vote, but your vote will be for a Colorado elector and mine will be for an Indiana elector, so your vote will not technically cancel mine out. BTW, have you read Psalm 81:12? “So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
to walk in their own devices." This may be the year the Lord lets that happen, meaning an Obama victory. One bit of quaint commentary on that verse, "No punishment is more just or more severe than this. If men will not be checked, but madly take the bit between their teeth and refuse obedience, who shall wonder if the reins are thrown upon their necks, and they are let alone to work out their own destruction. It were better to be given up to lions than to our hearts' lusts."
I would like to see a Romney victory and a Republican Senate, otherwise he might not get much done. OTOH, an Obama victory would be a perfect prelude to the tribulation.

Hoosier, re: your vote, I will send a donation in your honor to the Alzheimer Fund.

hoosierdaddy said...

Bizzy - I am HOOSIERdaddy, and thus I will indeed cancel out your Indiana vote!! I have my ways :-)

And S3, remind me again what is Alzheimers?

Welcome aboard, Hoosier! You're the first Mennonite through here since John Howard Yoder.

Hoosier, Alzheimer's is similar to Old Timer's disease. In fact, I get the two mixed up.

Bizzy Brain said...

Country over.

Dr S said...

Bizzy - you sound like Ed and some of his breakfast cronies "If Obama wins, he will be our last president." Still not sure how that is going to play out - they never give any details.

Bizzy Brain said...

I would not go as far as to say Obama will be our last President, but won’t dispute the cronies (bless their hearts). He very well could be as I can think of no one better to set the stage for the Tribulation. The Bible states the end will come within a “generation” of the restoration of Israel, which occurred in 1948. Only puzzle is to determine how long a generation is. In some parts of the Bible it is spoken of as 40 years, in other parts longer. We are now 64 years out. Will be quite interesting to see how events unfold the next four years.

Bizzy - your belief in the End Times prognostications reminds me of some folks that we knew in Colorado Springs. Rhonda had one of the daughters in school and became friends with the family. They were Messianic Jews, and we went to their place once for dinner and also to one of their Passover Seder services. Interesting, and very devout in their Jewish-based Christianity. The father was a biblical scholar and wrote a very long book about all of the signs that pointed to the year 2000 as the time for the return of Jesus. He was so convinced, that he packed up the family and moved to Israel to be at the right place at the right time. He gave himself 10 years leeway in his calculations, and now we are going on 13. I read his book and it was fascinating - but obviously wrong. Don't know where they are now or what they are up to - maybe writing another book.

No one knows what God has up his sleeve and it is pure foolishness to come up with a date when the Bible specifically states no one knows or will know. Common sense tells me the money will run out and there will most likely be social chaos. Our only hope may be State governments. I would personally like to see our new governor tell the President to stick Obamacare up his ass. Let the states disassociate themselvesf from the Federal tit and become self-sufficient.

Bizzy - I support breaking up the United States into 2 or more countries. Google 'dividing up the United States' and you will some good as well as funny ideas. I particularly like this one, dividing the Red and Blue States:

Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics and we've
decided we're leaving.

We in New York intend to form our own country and we're taking the other
Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the
Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the
people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:
You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd
Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.

You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high
tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists,
virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty
or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with
higher morals then we lefties.

We're taking the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.
