ELIJAH ROCK - MOSES HOGAN

Ascending Voice IV was recently held on the Pepperdine University campus in Malibu, at it is a symposium dedicated to sacred a capella music.  For three days, there are a series of workshops, symposia, all-sings and performances.  The Pepperdine Chamber Choir sang Elijah Rock by Moses Hogan - both the song and the composer were new to me, and I felt like sharing my 'discovery' with you all!  You can read about Moses here and here, and listen to the song below.

PLAY WITH FIRE

I have known this song since the Stones came out with it in 1965.  You can see a video of the Stones version here - but below is an interesting cover version by Son Little at eTown accompanied by eTown host Nick Forster.

Well, you've got your diamonds and you've got your pretty clothes
And the chauffeur drives your car
You let everybody know
But don't play with me, cause you're playing with fire

Your mother she's an heiress, owns a block in Saint John's Wood
And your father'd be there with her
If he only could
But don't play with me, cause you're playing with fire

Your old man took her diamond's and tiaras by the score
Now she gets her kicks in Stepney
Not in Knightsbridge anymore
So don't play with me, cause you're playing with fire

Now you've got some diamonds and you will have some others
But you'd better watch your step, girl
Or start living with your mother
So don't play with me, cause you're playing with fire
So don't play with me, cause you're playing with fire

LEFT WING LUNACY

A lot has been written lately about the duplicity, silliness and downright stupidity of the regressive left-wingers [we all know that all right-wingers are regressive :-]  Ha!  Anyway, this is a great example of some left-wing lunacy:

THE BIG SEVEN-OH

http://www.whodiscoveredit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Taurus.jpg

Yes, I am entering my eighth decade today, an octodecade man as one of my cousins put it.   And to tell the truth, I do not feel a day over 69!!  So being a classical Taurus, I have to consider what my horoscope says about me and the coming year.  I am so glad that all of this is written in the stars!!!!

What is your No. 1 aim? What is your deepest desire? What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail? Go all out to realize your dreams over the next 12 months. Jupiter, planet of good fortune, could even make them all come true.

Great news! You are now heading into one of the most powerful years of your life — a time of accumulation. This is a good year to buy and sell. Whatever you have done in the past will now ripen because it’s your time of fruition. At last!

This year you often find yourself on centre stage. You will meet a lot of people, especially when you are in the mood to network and socialize. Other times, you are highly introspective and love your quiet, solitary time.

As a Taurus born on May 3rd, you are well known for your charming and practical nature. Although you prefer to keep a small group of friends, many people have always found you pleasant and witty. This quality may be a result of your ability to understand others and always say the "right" thing. While those closest to you are fully aware of your charms, they may be less likely to notice your practical nature. You are hardly frivolous with your efforts or resources, as you are always striving for comfort and security.

The Taurus is under the planetary rulership of Venus, but as you were born in the second Decan, or part, of the sign, you receive a generous helping of Mercury's mysterious power as well. While the power of Venus can be credited with your warm, social and art-loving qualities, it is the influence of Mercury that powers your gifts for communication and mental agility. Your unique combination of planetary powers makes you the most socially thoughtful and charismatic of all the Taurus Decans. While others are quick to speak their mind, you prefer to think things through and address all sides of a situation. In love, you are honest and faithful, which are qualities that you value greatly.

This one is good because my favorite color is green!

Green is the color that is considered lucky for those Taurus natives with May 3. This hue denotes growth and healing and represents one of the soothing colors. This zodiac color is advised to be used in accessories and items of clothing. People with green as sign color need to feel accepted and respected in their community. They are loyal and trustworthy companions. They have a deep need to love and be loved and consider that belonging to the right person and creating a family with him or her is the greatest thing someone can achieve.
