On Thursday, December 29th, we attended a 'pre-New-Year's-Eve' dinner at the Three Tomatoes Steakhouse & Club at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden. It was a special five course, wine-paired dinner offered at what we thought was a very reasonable price. Chef Denis Hynds presented an elegant and sumptuous offering, and the Simi wine company provided generous portions of their wines.
First Course Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Chevre Chive Crostini, accompanied by oven fresh bread with special salt, pepper and garlic. Sauvignon Blanc
Second Course Hazelnut Crusted Monkfish, Poached Pear Risotto, Coconut Creme. Chardonnay
Third Course Seared Venison Loin, Sweet Potato Puree, Pomegranate Reduction, Pistachio. Merlot
Fourth Course Coffee Rubbed Pork Tenderloin, Fennel Arugula Salad, 24 Hour Tomato, Parsnip Potato. Cabernet Sauvignon
Fifth Course Chocolate Lava Cake, Passion Fruit Coulis, Creme Anglaise. Cabernet Sauvignon
Everything was excellent! And even though I am not a big chardonnay fan, the Simi 2008 was outstanding. And the pork tenderloin topped the food list. h/t to Chef Hynds and the competent staff.
