WORD VERIFICATION

To the 'real people' out there who post comments here - I am adding Word Verification to the comment section.  This blog receives numerous spam comments per day, all of which include a backlink to a site.  You can read more about 'the grubby world of comment spam' here.  I realize that this is an extra step for the commenter, but it is a reasonable way to differentiate a person from a computer.  Let me know what you think......

Also, if you cannot make out the fuzzy letters, click on the curved arrow to get a new image, or click on the speaker for audio.

Har! Don't even try the audio - sounds like mrrfxxpnqotzizi :-)

Please do help me return to my home country. Am stranded in USA and need immediate loan. Will pay you $10,000 when I get home.

Just kidding on the Anonymous, Doc.

I had that one figured out Phil - I don't expect too many trolling spammer anonymous comments to get through. However, if you want to help Anon get out of the US, you can send your money to me and I will attempt to pass it along!

Is your blog LGBTQPTSCTKZXKM friendly?

Douglas E said...

Good one CO - I started to try deciphering your alphabet soup, but got stuck at P :-) But - whatever, we are friendly!

Thanks DE. Everytime I read an article on sexual perversions, er, alternate lifestyles, they seem to add another letter.

In the science and religion class that I teach, students seem a bit surprised to learn that these days there are so many genders. In the old days, sex = gender, and thus one was a male, or a female, or a true hermaphrodite; three sexes and three genders. But today, there seem to be about as many genders as the letters Curious One lists. However, it should be noted that the proper scientific discription for the minor gender groups is 'deviant' and not 'perverted'. Perversion is a subjective judgemental determination, i.e. there are likely some deviant behaviors that are deemed to be not perverted and some that are.

I would like to say that the Word Verification seems to be working. Since I added it to the comment requirement, there hasn't been a single spam comment.

Thanks for explaining the difference between deviant and pervert, DE. BTW, I don't really mind being subjective and judgmental. Lol!

Curious, the LGBTQ, etc, letters are code for "cultural suicide."

DES said...

Bizzy - I think that you are being a bit too pessimistic; or perhaps being pessimistic for the wrong reason. The alphabet soup that you ID is a very minor percentage of the US population, most likely less than 10% and perhaps as low as 5%. There are far greater forces affecting culture, and it is simply a fact that cultures change over time. And the reality of 50% of the population being female has had and will continue to have significant impact on culture, and as you once noted, the huge number of single mothers also is having a significant impact on the culture. And that certainly is one area that gay folks do not impact.

Bizzy Brain said...

Even though they compose a tiny percent, once the gheys' agenda is legalized, no one will be able to publicly voice an opinion against it without risking fines and jail, as is the case in Canada. Speaking out against it will be considere discrimination and hate speech.

I predict federalized queer marriage may have some positive consequences once they start changing all the school textbooks from K-12 promoting homosexuality as normal. Believe it or else. Many people will get tired of having that crap shoved down their kids' throats and put them in private schools or do home schooling.

Interesting how the Word Verification has morphed into a discussion about gay marriage :-)

However, I will give an update on the efficiency of the word verification - thus far not a single spam comment has gotten through!! Impressive. It had been getting to the point of several spam messages per day. I also believe that the automatons that send out these comments adjust their strategy for their mailings - recedntly the blog has been getting 500+ views per day compared to the typical 100 or so before the spamming barrage. Thus - another success of sorts.

Back to the GLBT....issue - I will likely write a post and thus BB and friends can spout off there :-)

Curious One said...

My bad. Instant association in my mind of security letters to gender orientation letters. And, of course, could not keep my mouth shut.

Bizzy Brain said...

I would think that if one wanted to commercialize his site, it would be good to get a high number of views to please prospective advertisers.

Bizzy Brain said...

Re: future post on GLBT, you furnish the light, I will furnish the heat.

DES said...

BB - about ads - you are correct that pageviews would be beneficial for advertisers, but thus far I have not added ads to the blog. There is a gadget called Google AdSense that will insert ads and if someone clicks on the ad, I get some miniscule amount per click.

Also - like what you said about light and heat - game on!! :-)

Have always been curious about the B part of LGBTQ. If the gay is permitted to marry the object of his sexual affection, should not the Bi be permitted to marry the objects of his sexual affection? Would it not be only fair and equal that a Bi be allowed to have both a male and female spouse?

DES said...

JW - I am sure that there are those who would argue this way, just as there are folks like NAMBLA. However, I have always argued that marriage should only involve two people because the issues of power, split affections, competition, priorities, etc., are going to be significantly greater with 3 or more in a relationship. Heaven knows it's bad enough with 2!!!

"Heaven knows it's bad enough with 2!!!" Does Mrs. Douglas E. know you talk this way?

DES said...

Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Actually, of course I was talking generically, haruuumph.
