DEATH OF AN iPAD

arlington national cemetery nbc4washington

Below is the place of the unfortunate incident

It is too bad that there is not a video of the passing of the iPad.  Although it would have been a bit humiliating for yours truly, I believe that it would have been hilarious! The picture above is my sister's backyard pool in Palm Springs.  I was Face-Time-ing with some family members, showing them the pool, the landscaping and the small grassy area past the pool where we played hacky sack. What is only partially shown here is a small shallow wading area that makes an L-shape to the left of the main pool above. I was holding the iPad above my head as I walked from the grassy area around the wading pool back toward the pool.  As I was looking up, I cut the corner too close on the wading pool.  I stepped in, went down, and the iPad flew.  The good news is that it landed on the tile next to the pool; the bad news is that the iPad holder stuck to the tile and the iPad slid right out into the pool!!!  The water was so cold that nobody felt like diving in to make a rescue, so the iPad soaked in the cold, salt water for a while until the kids finally fished it out.

There was an attempt at resuscitation as shown below, but alas without success.

The one small saving grace is that we had won the iPad for having the lowest month utility bill in our solar-assisted neighborhood.  The bad news Glenn, is that your comprehensive song list now sleeps with the fishes.  RIP

Am glad it happened. Otherwise, would not have had a photo of your sister's beautiful backyard and pool with the majestic mountains backdrop. What's with the saltwater?

Mr T - maybe I can get sis to email some pics that show the snow-capped San Jacintos in the background.

Actually am not glad it happened. There may have been photos and files on it that were not backed up. Would appreciate photos! BTW, where does a Mennonite go to church in Palm Springs?

Well as Rhonda said, "Easy come, easy go." Nothing too important lost, and in theory, it's all backed up in the Apple Cloud. Also, there are no Mennonites in Palm Springs!! :-)

Hmmm... For some reason, I thought your sis was still a Mennonite.

Well Mr T, I guess that depends on how you define Mennonite. She will always be what I would call an "ethnic" Mennonite, and would say that she would still hold on to some of the tenets of the Mennonite Church. Since California is not peppered with Mennonite congregations like in the Goshen area, it's likely that she has not regularly attended a Mennonite church in quite a while. Probably would be best to let her respond! :-)

Ethnic makes sense to me. In other words, she hasn't abandoned her faith to become a Scientologist or some such thing.

Forgot to add, if your sis is in Palm Springs, then there is at least one Mennonite in Palm Springs rather than none.

T - all true; and I suspect that there are a few other Mennos lurking around the retirement communities in the Palm Springs area.

Get out the phone book and look for Yoder, Hochstetler, Miller, Bontrager, Diener, etc., etc.

Phone book? What's that?? :-) I do believe one would find a Nofziger is such a book.
