Time for a plug for the upcoming the 64th annual Conference on World Affairs held annually on the campus of CU-Boulder.  I am privileged to serve on the Science and Technology subcommittee for the Conference and am pleased that my friend and colleague Joe McInerney will be among the dozens of distinguished panelists.  You can view Joe's panels here, check out all of the panelists here, and look over the entire schedule here.   Another colleague and friend from Pepperdine, Bob Kaufman, is a regular panelist and dubs himself the 'token Republican.'  All sessions are free and open to the public, and as you can see, there truly is something for everyone - come join the fun.

NCAA ACADEMIC BRACKET - 2012

While the hoopla mounts surrounding tonight's NCAA men's basketball championship [I picked Kansas in my bracketology], I think the bracket below is much more interesting and informative - the winners are picked based on graduation rates of their student-athletes [a real misnomer at some schools].  If the upcoming mandate for graduation rates had been in place, 13 of these teams would not have been in the tournament.  Rather shameful IMHO.  [click on image for larger, clearer version]

This song honors the eight chestnut horses of Chinggis Khan, which have become a symbol of national identity for the Mongolian people.  Indigenous Mongolian music often uses rhythms patterned after the sounds of running horses.

These chestnut horses are a treasure to us, a valuable gift of nature.

Like a peaceful song, that surrounds everywhere, so is the true image

of the Mongolian horse worshiped by my nation.
