Linda - I am reminded of an old saying: "The bigger the hole in one's heart, the greater the circumference of light that surrounds that emptiness." Bella was a delight.
This brings tears to my eyes. So sorry for your loss. To me there is no more devastating grief than the loss of a pet. When granny dies, we can console ourselves by the thought we will meet again in the afterlife, but when our precious doggy dies, that may be it. Many believe we reunite with our beloved pets in the afterlife, and I dearly hope that’s true.
Cousin Steve - thanks for your thoughtful response. Bella indeed was a cutie - and because she was very small and full of pep, many folks thought she was a puppy during her healthy 16 years. And I cannot imagine any life beyond this one that would not include pets - they are likely more worthy than most humans! :-)
They certainly bring a lot of enjoyment into a person's life. We currently have four dogs, two of whom we adopted after one of Deborah's friends died of a stroke.
John - thanks for checking in - indeed, we had much enjoyment with Bella! We also remember your gaggle of Papillons when we visited - seems like you also had 4 back then. Very kind of you to adopt your friend's dogs. Hope to make a trip up your was at some time. Take care.
