AMISH LATTER DAY SAINTS

These Amish obviously do not believe the Bible is the unerring word of God, for in Revelation 22:17-18 it specifically states, "Und der Geist und die Braut sprechen: Komm! Und wer es hört, der spreche: Komm! Und wen dürstet, der komme; und wer da will, der nehme das Wasser des Lebens umsonst. Ich bezeuge allen, die da hören die Worte der Weissagung in diesem Buch: So jemand dazusetzt, so wird Gott zusetzen auf ihn die Plagen, die in diesem Buch geschrieben stehen."
You got it a little bit wrong, Klure, the verses are 18-19, not 17-18, and in the King James version read, "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
Am surprised the Bishop of these poor deceived folks didn't point that out. Or maybe he did, who knows?
Well, technically the Book of Mormon doesn't add to the Bible. Just another revelation. And it was long after John wrote Revelations that the canon was formalized to its content. Lots of contemporaneous gospels left out.
The Book of Mormon is the "revelation" of a big load of contradictory BS. Maybe if the Amish were allowed to get on the internet, they could visit the websites that demonstrate this. Absent that, am thinking they could go to the local library and find the same information. Then again, maybe Amish leaving the faith to become Mormons is nature's way of preserving a higher IQ level amongst the steadfast Amish who don't fall away from the community by buying into Mormon hogwash.
When word gets around that a Mormon tradition is to stock a year's supply of food, I predict they will become very popular and gain many converts in the event of TEOTWAWKI (The End of the World as We Know It).

The Amish turned Mormon will, indeed, have a surprising "journey of discovery" when they pass into eternity. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha...

Both the Amish and the Mormons are good examples of the power of group identity, defining who's in and who's out.
