TWENTY FIFTH AMENDMENT

Littwin: Is Donald Trump crazy or is he just Donald Trump? | SummitDaily.com

I believe that it is time for Pence and the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Oh, how I wish it would be possible!

Sorry, Doc, getting rid of Trump won't change anything. There is no escape.

Yes, as Dante wrote "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here." I do think that dumping the Trumpster would evoke change - not necessarily for the better, but change. I think that Pence is eyeing being POTUS, running in the next election; and, he may also be lining up the ducks to step into the position before the next election. It may not be impeachment or Amendment 25 - the Orange One may up and resign - via Twitter!!! :-)

And Lou - methinks Trump is your man!! An egocentric, narcissistic, lying, racist, misogynous, God-less piece of scum.

Douglas E, I think Pence anticipates being President one day. Under what conditions is anyone's guess. You could replace Trump's name in your last sentence with many, many Republican and Democrat politicians and would be accurately describing them. The vast majority are frauds, just spewing BS to get elected and re-elected and become millionaires in the process. The way they fall all over themselves of late to hate on Trump is hilarious.

BB - right on, and fits with my mantra - "All politicians are scum."

Steve Bannon, Trump's chief strategist just resigned or got canned or some such thing. Bannon had to put up with some real shitbags in the Trump inner circle who need to be fired for the sake of Trump's base. They include daughter, Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, National Security Adviser, H. R. McMaster, National Economics Adviser, Gary Cohn, and Ivanka's right hand "woman," Dina Powell. They could PO the base to the point Trump doesn't get re-elected. They are all left wing establishment types, what Trump voters voted to get rid of.

BB - I think that you are right about Bannon, the others, and the support of the base. I always thought that if he torches Bannon, he is signing his own demise, either by losing at the next election or being ousted [or resign] before hand.

People have, no doubt, awakened to the fact their vote doesn't matter. They gave the Republicans the House, the Senate, and the Presidency to get tax cuts, repeal of Obamacare, and illegal alien control, etc. Then, lying, cowardly weasels Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, and may as well throw in John McCain, laugh at the suckers and say, "We ain't gonna do any of that. Ha, ha!" So, now you know who is in control, the donors with the big bucks. Don't think Trump can change that.

BB - right on again; our "democracy" is basically a plutocracy where money, private and corporate, rule the roost

Some believe Trump should trust-bust the Silicon Valley tech oligarchs and the huge media conglomerates because they both are in the process of subjugating and silencing a large swath of the American citizenry.
