Tu suis suicidal pour voting for radical leftists i.e. liberals, who bring these unassimilable Muslims into the West by the millions, and when a sane person complains about their society being turned into the shit from whence the Muslims came, they are labeled Islamophobes and xenophobes.
SSS - read David Brooks article in today's New York Times "I am not Charlie Hebdo." Then read the NYT's picks of reader comments that show Brooks confusion. Your confusion seems to be somehow blaming the victims - the satirists may be disgusting but murdering them was not done by any radical leftists but by savage fundamentalists.
It's Islam: not some radical minority version of it, but mainstream, central core Islam that drives people to acts of murder and intolerance. Not hard to understand if you ever have studied Islam, spent time in Muslim countries or with Muslims in the West. It is a creed for the unbalanced, the fearful, the hate-filled. It is no wonder it thrives in prisons. Islam is a psychotic creed, not a religion as we understand religion. Islam is about conquest and, above all, about revenge: endless acts of revenge for endless slights real and imagined throughout history. We are being murdered by Islam, and the progressive insistence that we have to welcome millions of Islam's followers into our societies and that we have to accommodate them by changing our societies.
SSS - I agree with much of what you say, up until your last sentence. Show me the data that demonstrate that it is the progressives who say that we must accommodate radical Islam [I think that there are at least some Muslims who seek to live within the US norms]. Perhaps you are equating progressives with your initial phrase, radical leftists. Not a valid equality, and I would tend to agree that the latter are misguided in their mantra of tolerance and acceptance of all. There are certainly some things that do not qualify for that - the hard part is that folks draw the line at much different places when distinguishing what is acceptable and what is not.
You make a valid point, DES. My thoughts apply more to the European societies rather than our specific American society. In Europe there are no go zones, Sharia law, etc., practiced in Muslim enclaves. Europe is progressives and they are shoving Muslims down everyone's throats.
Thankfully, DES, you did not come back with, "I know some Muslims who are good, decent people!" We all do. That isn't the issue. There is an international jihadist organization wreaking havoc in the world by establishing a Sharia based Muslim caliphate. It is based on words from the Koran, just as the earliest Muslims used words from the Koran to justify conquering many lands and peoples when Islam was in its infancy. The choices now are as they were then, convert, submit, or die. We don't face that choice in America yet, but I believe someday this country will be brought to its knees via dirty bomb, sabotage of the electrical grid, or maybe bio warfare, unless we tackle the issue. The president of Egypt made the sensible suggestion that Islam must reform itself so it is not so feared and hated across the world. Obama hates the president of Egypt to there won't be much progress along that front soon. A good start would be to stop all Muslim immigration and secure the border.
SSS - not that I agree with all of your points, but it is very troubling that our so-called Saudi allies are among the worst of the theocratic thugs. They are currently publicly lashing and imprisoning for 10 years a blogger who dared to denounce the royal family and Islam. Beyond disgusting.
Very interesting and engaging thread. There has been a conspicuous absence of dialog - from both Muslims and non-Muslims alike - on the subject of Islam and its place in our world.
I have done a great deal of study on the package and have yet to be able to speak intelligently on it. What i have found is that Islam is less of a religion and more of a political ideology. It also appears to be a metaphorical cancer, metastasizing rampantly throughout the world.
A recent study compared reproductive rates across the globe. North America is currently at 1.6 offspring per household. Europe is 1.1. Anything over two is required to sustain a society.
Muslims, on the other hand, are over 6. Perhaps they believe they will lose at least 3 to IEDs or drone strikes. As sick and callous as that sounds, it could just as easily be true.
Other studies have gone on to analyze Western cultures where Muslim influences have grown. Initially, they begin as enclaves, unseen to the outside world. They home school, stay to themselves and remain very introverted. As they flourish, they begin to exert social demands, such as hallal meals in public institutions. You may recall the flap over driver license photos and airport security checks regarding females wearing burqas. [DES - these examples speak to your "show me the data" comment.] Eventually, when the Muslim population exceeds 5% of the community population, they begin to exert political demands including Sharia law. The Muslim population in Paris is nearly 10%. When I was there 3 years ago, I didn't even notice their presence. Then again, they enclave in “no-go” zones.
In essence, they use each and every civil liberty guaranteed to us by our Constitution against us based on their zealous "religious" ideologies and their pursuit of personal freedoms (which include organizing and conspiring to perform violent acts, not to mention vocally condemning our country for those “endless slights, real and imagined"). It is this very pursuit that will eventually destroy America and we are helpless to stop it as it contradicts the very tolerant fabric of our nation.
Is it a coincidence that our president did not attend the solidarity convention in Paris this week? I think not. It’s no secret that he is a closet Muslim (“the most beautiful thing is the Muslim call to prayer”). Even his press secretary was hard pressed to come up with a plausible explanation why BO did not join top leaders from nations all over the world. The message, in my mind, is loud and clear.
The only thing I can conclude by the conspicuous silence from the Muslim community condemning Islam-sponsored violence is that any such statements would be a condemnation of Islam itself - an offense punishable by death. What a peaceful, tolerant religion. It’s the only religion I’ve ever heard of that considers non-believers “infidels” and repeatedly calls for their immediate destruction.
And lastly, Bizzy Brain, please exclude me from the “We all do” camp. The only decent Muslims I know are the complacent ones, or the equivalent of “luke warm Christians” as they taught me in Sunday school. I have worked with a great deal of Koran thumping Muslims and they are generally the most lying, hypocritical, deceitful lot of humans I have ever met. Still, I will keep an open mind. But I'm not reading any postings here from the Muslim community giving me reason to believe otherwise.
BES - thank you for your thoughtful and informative comment. There is much with which I agree and some that I do not. However, overall, there is much truth here.
One of your most important points, one that is often mentioned in a variety of venues including Jerry Coyne's WEIT, is the virtual absence of condemnation of terrorism by leading Muslims or even every-day Muslims. Any denunciations that do show up have the distinct aura of lip-service without any commitment. Indeed, violence is a way of life for many Muslims as demonstrated by the Shia vs Sunni conflicts.
Your comments regarding the modus operandi of immigrant Muslims is astute and from what I can tell, accurate.
I must disagree about Obama - I think that he is simply aloof about most things, and has a disdain for engaging with most difficult issues. If indeed he was a closet Muslim, he would be smart to try to cover it by attending events such as the Paris march.
There is a sleeper cell in the White House and Obama is a traitor. Does not anyone know what the Muslim Brotherhood is? And does not Obama's wholehearted support of that Brotherhood tell you who he is? You cannot be pro Muslim Brotherhood and pro-America. In fact, it makes you very much anti-America, which makes you a traitor when you wield as much anti-American influence as Obama wields. The silent Muslims silently cheer on the Islamists as they all believe in the same thing - a world dominated and controlled by a Muslim Caliphate. For a glimpse of what that world would be like, take a peek into the pot after your next BM.
I could take down SSS's idiotic comment, but rather will leave it be simply to demonstrate how bats*** crazy some folks are. Not a modicum of fact and a blindered borderline racist rant.
Lest I omit facts, this gem was passed along to me. I have read some comments on the Netherland's controversial approach to integration. Now I understand where it's coming from.
I've done some fact checking on the issue and if you Google "Muslims in US Government" you'll find several articles from various sources documenting the increasing presence of Muslims in our Federal government, including in security and security sensitive positions. There's even a White House posting about it "reflecting the rich diversity..."
Theories, opinions and racism aside, there is an unprecedented number of Muslims now serving in government roles in recent years. And their numbers as a percentage of government employment are higher than Muslims as a percentage of the US population. But so is imbalance of Jewish leadership in corporate America versus Jews as a percentage of their respective workforce.
SIM, DES is not correct. The Muslim Brotherhood is extremely anti-freedom and the backbone and strength of America IS freedom. So if one is anti-freedom in their support of the Muslim Brotherhood, how can they be a pro-freedom American?
Actually, the one whose feelings should be hurt is Roger Simon of PJ Media. He's the one who wrote the column Is the White House a "Sleeper Cell'? from which I plagiarized the idea. Lol! http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2015/01/12/sleeper-cell/
Ok. I confess. I enjoy a really juicy conspiracy theory every now and then. Not that I necessarily believe any of them. But conspiracy theories can get amazingly creative in connecting otherwise puzzling or meaningless dots.
For instance, there are some conspiracy theories out there that connect the 19 9/11 Muslim terrorist hijackers to the CIA, who sponsored the attack in order to start a full-scale Middle East war. Considering the trillions of dollars pumped into the military industrial complex to prosecute these wars, there is certainly some Tom Clancy/Oliver Stone plausibility to it. But no hard proof it was a false flag. And speaking of the military industrial complex and conspiracy theories, conspiracy buffs believe some remarks made by JFK affecting the MIC got him killed. Again, no proof and his assassination will remain one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
But other questions remain open and unanswered about 9/11, a Muslim executed terror conspiracy. Most of them were Saudis, our so-called allies. Why did Building Seven, untouched by the two jetliners and the Tower 1 and 2 collapses, implode on its own? Nobody is saying. Why did a white hot fire at the bottom of the two smoking holes burn for almost 6 weeks? The fire burned hotter than jet fuel (and building materials for that matter) for a much longer duration than the one day it would have taken to cook off a jet’s unburned fuel load. There are few things that burn at the higher temperatures recorded at the site and none of them are typically found in office buildings.
Is there a conspiracy theory behind the Muslim “infiltration” of the USG? Not one that I’ve heard. But I have read a lot of email chatter by people who are vocally opposed to it. There hasn’t been any malicious behavior that I’m aware of, but it’s certainly adding to the anxiety (phobia?) about Muslims in America.
I’m not a big Thomas Friedman fan and I think the New York Times is litter box lining, but he wrote an OpEd piece that if nothing else, echoed the sentiments of most of the non-Muslim world asking where is the outcry from the Muslim world condemning the violence? The interesting angle was that he excused BO for skipping the solidarity pageant because it should have never happened in the first place. Instead, it should have been the Muslim world - leaders and followers - conducting that gathering, speaking out against acts of violence.
And to that point, I believe that when you have to demand such condemnation, it will only lack all the sincerity and heartfelt meaning that would come were it delivered without hesitation.
Think about it this way: In many states, it is against the law (as in you can be imprisoned) for failing to report child abuse of any kind. Acts of moral turpitude that evoke no anger or outrage are essentially viewed as socially acceptable, by default. So except for one whisper I heard, the widespread silence of the Muslim community speaks volumes.
An ethical question on conspiracies arises when we dare peak at the dark underbelly and consider how terror plots are foiled. Terrorism conspirators do not file for permits, or issue press releases. This information has to be obtained and doing so inevitably means rules and laws have to be broken. Civil liberties have to be violated. This is a very troubling paradox because I am a staunch believer in the protection of civil liberties that is now horribly perverted by an even greater need to be protected from attacks.
Recently, our leadership from California published a report on the subject that gave us a peak at that underbelly and a national debate ensued. But this all speaks to my earlier concern where the protection of our liberties and freedoms is in conflict with our safety and security. Judge Nepalitano summed it up very well in a striking quote: "The liberties we enjoy today don't necessarily make us a more secure society.”
BES - I, and probably a lot of folks, indeed like a good conspiracy theory more for fun than anything else. Loved Mel Gibson is the movie :-) If you don't mind, I am going to turn your comment into a guest post.
The Mafia, Fidel Castro, and Lyndon Johnson had motive to kill John Kennedy. Oswald said he was a "patsy," after realizing he was marked for death after shooting Kennedy. Some believe officer J.D. Tippit was supposed to kill Oswald, but Oswald killed him first. My favorite theory is that Johnson ordered the assassination as he disliked Kennedy and desperately wanted to be President.
Oh, and don't forget Executive Order 1110, signed in June of '63, reigning in the powers of the Federal Reserve. So you can add the banking cartel to that list of possible suspects.
Fast forward to 2015 - and the Fed is still a bunch of criminals. Investment bankers, hedge fund managers, the Fed, governmental bureaucrats are all a bunch of good old boys, manipulating the system to enrich the already rich while draining the rest of us via bogus data like the so-called rate of inflation to the cleverly named quantitative easement which really is monetizing debt by printing money. The monetary crash is on the horizon.
Monetary crash and federal government collapse would be fine with me. Then maybe we can get back to states' rights and the freedoms envisioned by the founders and guaranteed by the Constitution. States can survive by establishing their own currencies, banking systems, and security networks. If we could get back on the same footing as the original 13 colonies, maybe we could re-create an organization of states that would not turn into an all powerful federal dictatorship sucking the lifeblood and freedom out of the American society.
