NASA JOHNSON STYLE

The NASA Johnson Style is a parody of Gangnam Style by Psy.  An recent article in the Boulder Daily Camera described how several CU student interns at NASA appear in the video as part of the background dancing troupe.   As of today the NASA video has 4,099,174 views while Psy's has supposedly topped a billion.

Those are good! The original Gangnam style music video is a masterpiece, quite addictive.

Bizzy - glad you liked 'em. I once read that the original had a political/cultural message, but can't remember what it was :-) Old Timers setting in I guess...

The movie, Avatar, was supposed to have a "political/cultural' message also, but it was lost on viewers. They didn't grasp it or didn't care. My opionion is that if an artist wants to "send a message," write an essay.

BB - love your closing line! I plan to use it now and then :-)

Agree with Biz. Avatar met the requirements of an excellent artistic presentation: it was entertaining, informative, and inspirational (for many anyway). The "political" element did not rise above the level of pro wrestling drama. The bad sergeant was supposed to represent big bad exploitive government, I guess. However he came across like a typical pro wrestling villain, and people simply weren’t drawn into any deeper meaning than that. And, of course, in the end, the villain "got his," which made everyone feel great. Aristotle would have applauded (from my take on his Poetics.)

I agree as well. We were simply taken in by the movie as the standard storyline told in an amazingly unique way - Dances with Wolves in space as it were.

Good mention. Dances with Wolves is one of my all-time favorites. Favorite quote from the movie: "You turned injun, didn't ya'?"

Reminds me of what they said to my Grandpa after the Amish outlawed car driving, "You turned Mennonite, didn't ya'?"

Remember when Sam dropped the plain collar for shirt and tie? I still remember being taken aback!

I don't remember any of that . Re: taken aback, if Grandpa was around today, there wouldn't be words to describe how taken aback he might be.

Amen to that primo. No doubt you, like I am, are taken aback at some of what our kids do, and no doubt will be moreso with our grandkids, and so on as long as we are around. I must admit that I remember Sam lightening up some in his latter days, but maybe that is my own biased memory.....

One of my favorites was that he would watch a ball game, for example, on TV, but someone else had to turn on the TV.
