Thankfully, the title is a metaphorical statement rather than a literal one. However, yesterday, April 20, we did not think too much about returning to Boulder from Denver at about 4:00 pm. Shoulda known. The traffic was backed up on US 36 at the Baseline exit, which only happens on football game days. Then we remembered - the
Great Marijuana Smokeout at 4:20 on 4/20 at the CU campus. We quickly pulled in to
Beaujo's Pizza because we knew that it would not be crowded - all of the stoners, er, medical marijuana users, would be over at the Norlin Quad to light up with 10,000 others at 4:20.
Obviously for the pain of a left arm disorder
There is some confusion about the origin of 4-20, but apparently it goes back to a group of teenagers in San Raphael, California, and not to the fictitious 4-20 police code.

Those coeds look fairly well fed, unlike my time in college when students often had to choose between spending their money on food or drugs, the same choice senior citizens supposedly had to make during the Bush administration, but which we don't hear a peep about from the Obama media, just as we hear nary a complaint from the media on outrageous gas prices, while it was a daily headline under Bush.
You are right BB about not hearing too much from a lot of the media about how things are now compared to last year, two years ago, etc. A previous post showed how the Democrats killed the anti-war movement, and there is a lot of left-wing silence re the many failures of the Obama administration. Of course, Bush and Cheney should still be indicted :-)
During the mediafest of drugs vs food under Bush, Rush said he was going to buy his mom an electric can opener so she could more easily open her dog food cans. THAT caused a media stir on the left and it was reported by some as if Rush was serious.
It may also be 4-20 for the Knicks seeing as how they are total playoff failures. Oh, well, if they acquire another mega-star or two like Carmello, and get a mega-star coach like Phil Jackson, maybe they will have a decent shot at winning their first playoff game in ten years.
Primo - I did find it most interesting that the Knicks could not win even one, especially since I don't think that the Celtics are that great this year. I am let down that the Nuggets haven't been able to beat the Thunder in three tries. OKC is quite good and if they get [or should I say stay] hot, I believe that they have a chance to win the whole thing.
Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
