We could hear the roosters crow, but we never did see Dylan at the farm. We walked, ran and drove by his place many times, including one time with Ken for the mandatory picture outside the gate. We also have a picture of Ken outside the gates at MJ's Neverland ;-)DEShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03535087176533944091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-51176870365387845952011-03-23T16:14:05.736-06:002011-03-23T16:14:05.736-06:00Nothing like staying on topic. With THAT said, George Karl, coach of the Denver Nuggets stands a good chance of being coach of the year. The Knicks gave up way too much for Carmello and the Nuggets are doing very well. Guess the Knicks owner wanted to provide NY fans some exciting up and down the floor run and gun. Fun to watch, but not so hot for the W-L record.Steve Hellernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-51321098636135670892011-03-22T20:50:34.274-06:002011-03-22T20:50:34.274-06:00Well, Phil, all the country needs is one more para...Well, Phil, all the country needs is one more parasite, even if it is jail welfare. During the last 45-50 years, the welfare state has spread like wildfire. It encompasses and infantilizes an ever larger percent of the population, and it beggars even the richest and most powerful countries. The main problem with the welfare state is WE CAN’T AFFORD IT. No government can, no matter how rich or powerful. The paradox of the welfare state is that it will surely ruin us if left to run unchecked, yet so many people depend on it that we can’t stop it. For example, people feel entitled to live the last 25 to 30 years of their lives in comfortable idleness paid for with other people’s money. Try and make them pay and you end up with mob rule, such as in Wisconsin. In Indiana, it is much worse. The Democrat representatives walked out five weeks ago and no sign of returning, which means no bills can be debated, voted on or passed for this legislative session. Our form of government is breaking down due to being broke and people not accepting that reality. And that is when there is still plenty of food and other necessities available. Think what it will be like when those disappear. Ironically, it may be the Amish who show us the way back with their Godly values and self-sufficiency.The Amish Riflemannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-32716930595024944802011-03-22T15:09:27.594-06:002011-03-22T15:09:27.594-06:00BB - there are so very many great Dylan tunes that...BB - there are so very many great Dylan tunes that it's hard to pick out a favorite. I liked the video because it showed Dylan at many different stages of his career.

AR - you raise an interesting point. I don't have any clear recollections of Amish hunting in Northern Indiana. I would not be too surprised if they did, but an Amer with a gun - haven't ever seen such a thing.DEShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03535087176533944091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-9782260418531068642011-03-22T08:54:50.521-06:002011-03-22T08:54:50.521-06:00Hey, Amish, if you're so worried about survivi...Hey, Amish, if you're so worried about surviving in a Mad Max world, get yourself thrown into jail - three squares and a place to lay your head.Phil L.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-23889099772817111672011-03-21T21:42:49.104-06:002011-03-21T21:42:49.104-06:00An Amish rifleman is a rifleman whose services may...An Amish rifleman is a rifleman whose services may be required by the Amish after this nation's financial and social collapse. The Amish are independent and self-sufficient and will always have plenty of food when the supermarkets are looted and closed down. Roving bands of marauders may try to steal food from the non-violent Amish, and since the sheriff can't be everywhere at once, the Amish will need other means of protection and deterrence against thieves. I will provide such services for three squares a day and a place to lay my head. The Amish Riflemannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33475986.post-78896664352844429772011-03-21T13:52:04.012-06:002011-03-21T13:52:04.012-06:00So what, pray tell, is an Amish Rifleman? We sang what we could remember of the lyrics and laughed and laughed. Here are the lyrics:

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You're in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, "How are you?" "Good luck"
But you don't mean it

When you know as well as me
You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once
And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I'd rob them

And now I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don't you understand
It's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
To see youBizzy Brainnoreply@blogger.com
